Prevent the Spread

Listed are 7 steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from the World Health Organization. First, make sure you are washing your hands frequently. You should be washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before washing off your hands of soap.

Now, personally, this is a tough one but try to avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and face. The virus is extremely contagious, and so by touching your face often you are just allowing there to be more contact with your hands and face which can lead to the virus spreading. Your hands touch many surfaces so just try and keep your hands away from your face.

Cover your cough inside a tissue if you have time to grab one, or use the bend of your elbow to contain your cough. The same can be said for sneezing as well. Keep to social distancing and avoid crowded places such as the grocery store or pharmacy since many retailers and local establishments are closed at this point. Try and go out shopping for essentials early in the morning or late at night when there are potentially fewer people out at those times.

If you do not feel well, please stay home and again, practice social distancing from family, friends, and coworkers. If you start to develop a fever, cough or have difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. If you have a doctor you can call, or the emergency room you have visited in the past, call first to make sure they can see you in your current state.

Social Distancing

It is important to keep social distancing or physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Social distancing is encouraged to help slow down the spread of the virus from person to person. By distancing yourself from other people, you are reducing the probability of contact from person to person of those who may or may not is infected with the virus.

Be aware of anyone who is coughing or sneezing and try to keep at least 3 feet away from them due to the respiratory virus being spread through coughing, sneezing, and saliva. If you are still able to work at your employer, keep a hand-sanitizer at your desk and be consistent about washing hands before and after eating foods and opening doors. It has been recommended to sit at least 6 feet apart from coworkers if you are still working in an office type setting.

Remember to sanitize your cell phone too since that touches many surfaces throughout the day.

Social distancing works best when everyone participates in keeping their distance from others.
